Donations Policy
Philosophy
Rogers Plus is proud of its commitment to supporting charitable organizations, causes and activities. As a responsible corporate citizen, we believe it is important to give back to our communities and contribute to their stability and prosperity.

Policies & Priorities
The company gives primary consideration to requests for children and youth

Requesting organizations within defined giving categories must meet the following basic criteria to be considered for financial support:

  • Be based in Canada.
  • Operate as a non-profit organization or charitable organization registered under the Income Tax Act (Canada).
  • Maintain a list of current board members and up-to-date financial statements, available upon request.

Rogers Plus will not make contributions to:

  • Religious or political organizations, lobby groups or candidates.
  • Organizations already supported by United Way contributions (we contribute to United Way through our annual corporate donation campaign.)
  • Adult sporting teams & events.
  • Organizations that will use our donation to show movies in a public setting.
  • Requests from individuals or third parties raising funds (e.g. individual participating in the Run for the Cure; parents or youth involved in school fundraisers).
  • Veteran, fraternal or labour organizations.
  • For-profit organizations.
  • Individual requests for personal donations and financial aid, including coverage of travel expenses, accommodation, etc.
  • Groups which address issues by means of adversarial or confrontational tactics.
  • Health organizations and their local chapters dedicated to a specific disease.
  • Organizations which discriminate for membership and/or for the provision of service or use of facilities on the basis of race, creed, religion, ethnicity or sex.
  • Support for organizations, causes and events outside of Canada.

Requesting Procedures

Organizations or individuals seeking financial support from Rogers Retail should submit a written proposal including the following information:

  • Documentation of charitable/non-profit status
  • Project title
  • Name, address, telephone, fax, e-mail (if applicable)
  • The total amount being requested or whether you are requesting a gift in kind
  • A history and description of the program and the requesting organization
  • Include other sources of corporate support, a list of current board members and up-to-date financial statements

Review Process

Requests are reviewed quarterly (March, June, September, December) by the communications department in co-operation with employees, staff and the company’s senior leadership team.

Requests are carefully reviewed. If the request cannot be considered, a letter explaining the reasons for declining the request will be sent. Due to the large volume of requests, we are unable to respond to donation requests by telephone.

If the request is approved, the organization will contact the requesting organization. Any denial of funds is not a judgment of the merits of those requests that are declined.

Store Donation Requests

Rogers Retail also supports local communities through charitable donations made by our stores. Decisions to support community events are based on the criteria outlined in this policy. The store manager or delegate reviews all applications and makes funding decisions. All decisions are made at the discretion of the store manager and are final.

Non Solicitation Policy

Rogers Retail does not allow organizations or individuals to sell or distribute items (e.g. samples, flyers, memberships) outside any store or office location.

We receive a large volume of donation requests and appreciate your understanding should we be unable to accommodate your organization. Donation requests are NOT the same as sponsorship or co-promotional opportunities. Sponsorships and co-promotions are considered to be advertising and not a donation.
